Overview
CristinaJacob.com is the official digital presence of film director Cristina Jacob.
The objective was not simply to present a filmography, but to design a digital experience that reflects the language of cinema – emotionally engaging, visually intentional, and structurally composed.
The opportunity: How can a filmmaker’s online presence embody cinematic storytelling while maintaining clarity, authority, and scalability?
Challenge
- The platform had to express a strong artistic identity without becoming visually chaotic.
- Film projects required structured presentation while preserving emotional impact.
- Video content (trailers, interviews, making-of) needed to integrate naturally into the narrative flow.
- The portfolio had to feel curated, not cataloged.
- The system needed to scale with future productions.
- The brand positioning had to communicate creative authority and industry credibility.
The solution needed to be:
Visually immersive. Architecturally structured. Cinematically directed. Future-ready.
Strategy
Rather than building a traditional portfolio website, we designed a cinematic interface architecture inspired by film language and storytelling structure.
The core approach:
Translate cinematography principles into UX design decisions.
The structure follows a narrative logic:
- Hero section as opening frame
- High-contrast transitions between sections (visual acts)
- Poster-driven portfolio grid as visual anchors
- Dedicated film pages structured like narrative deep dives
Each film page functions as a micro-landing experience:
- Context & positioning
- Structured technical details
- Trailer as emotional focal point
- Making-of gallery as behind-the-scenes layer
- Cross-navigation to maintain continuity
The result is not a collection of pages, but a directed experience.

UI/UX Inspired by Cinematography
The design system is built around cinematic principles:
Visual Contrast & Mood
- Deep black backgrounds evoke theatrical space.
- Controlled yellow accents function as spotlight elements.
- Minimal color palette reinforces dramatic focus.
Framing & Composition
- Large-format poster visuals act as primary narrative objects.
- Structured layouts mirror film credits and production hierarchies.
- Balanced negative space enhances tension and emphasis.
Hierarchy & Rhythm
- Strong typographic contrast for editorial clarity.
- Structured information blocks for technical data.
- Intentional pacing between dense and light sections.
Media Integration
- Seamless embedding of trailers and video playlists.
- Image galleries positioned as narrative extensions.
- Social integration aligned with brand aesthetics.

User Experience Principles
- No generic portfolio grids
- No visual clutter
- No aggressive calls-to-action
- Clear visual hierarchy
- Cinematic mood consistency across all templates
- Natural transition between content, media, and navigation
Business Value
- Positions the director as a premium, established industry professional
- Reinforces artistic identity through consistent digital storytelling
- Provides a scalable architecture for future film releases
- Integrates media and social channels cohesively
- Strengthens brand authority across international audiences
The website becomes more than a portfolio, it becomes a structured digital representation of a creative universe.
